I wrote, I Miss My Dad, as a part of the healing process for me and my son. When my son, Mekhi, was two years old his father passed away in March of 2015. My son has a very broad imagination that captured my interest. Children in general have such a great imagination. So, travel became an outlet and it also gave me an idea to help other children and parents whom may have experienced losing a parent or someone close to them. I observed every moment of my son’s movements and thoughts and decided to write.

As a single mother it can be challenging raising a child. It is extremely important to be supportive in all aspects of our children’s lives. Their development starts with what they see and who they see (us/ parents) doing it.

This journey has been an experience, but it has helped Mekhi understand his father’s death. I explained his father is now his angel and lives in the clouds. Now that he is seven years old, his love for nature has broaden. He pays more attention to the birds, trees, and the shapes of the clouds.

Taking your children out to museums, parks, and local events outside of their neighborhoods can encourage and inspire them to explore and acquire new interest. After my son's father passed away, travel became an outlet for me and my son.
